• Q: What mechanisms will R2G have in place to monitor the piracy of licensed content online?

A: R2G will track specific instances of online copyright violation of registered content using 2 proprietary tools - the Spider & Wasp crawling through major Service Providers and Search Engines in China with the result that all instances of unlicensed content will be uncovered in detail for follow-up legal action.

• Q: How will R2G ensure that accurate revenues are reported back to Content Providers based on sales?

A: R2G’s proprietary Woodpecker Licensing Accounting system which will be installed with partner Service Providers will track actual revenues flowing in. Our 3rd party billing validation system will allow Content Providers to realize actual revenues beyond the current practice of minimum guarantees. In order for this to be as effective as possible, Content Providers should adopt the practice that they will either assign R2G the full distribution function or else only license digital content to Service Providers who are willing to allow the Woodpecker License Accounting server to be installed on their servers. Content Providers also have a role to play in developing an infrastructure for accurate revenue flows.

Only as more and more Service Providers take this step will a critical mass be achieved that can reduce the level of piracy and subsequently increase revenues for Service Providers and you do not have to compete with unlicensed content in the online market.

• Q: Other than music, does the R2G model also cover other types of digital content?

A: For a start, R2G will be handling only digital music content, covering full-length mp3 songs and various formats of mobile related audio products like ringtones, CRBT & IVR. The audio category is the one that is in most urgent need of a solution, and it will be our priority focus. There will be scope for R2G to expand further into the online images, software, gaming & video categories at a later stage.
